Mars has reportedly recalled chocolate bars in 55 countries after bits of plastic were found in one of its products.
In a statement Mars Ireland is recalling funsize Mars, Milky Way, Mix Variety Pack and Celebrations products after a piece of plastic was found in one of its products. The products affected in the Irish market have Best Before dates between May 8th and October 2nd 2016.
The company says in some instances, the plastic pieces could present a choking hazard.
Mars Ireland said this was "an isolated incident" and only products manufactured in the Netherlands are impacted. The company said: "No other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes are affected in Ireland".
The bars were initially recalled in Germany and the Netherlands products in as many as 55 countries could be affected.

Mars Chocolate takes the precautionary step of recalling products produced in the Netherlands (Veghel) due to possibility of plastic contamination in our products.
Mars Ireland is recalling funsize MARS® MILKY WAY® MIX VARIETY PACK® and CELEBRATIONS® products after a piece of plastic was found in one of our products. In some instances, such a piece of plastic could present a choking hazard.

The Irish recall concerns only the products below with the following best before dates that were manufactured in the Netherlands and distributed in Ireland:

This is an isolated incident and only the above products manufactured in the Netherlands are impacted. No other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes are affected in Ireland and no other best before dates or products manufactured at any other location are impacted.
To date, we have only received one consumer complaint. In Ireland, we have not received any consumer complaints.
