The head of the Irish Family Planning Association says asylum seeking women face a maze of barriers in accessing abortion services.
Niall Behan says obstacles include money, visas and the law.
His comments come after a woman says she was refused an abortion after making an attempt on her life.
In an interview with The Irish Times she says she was raped in her home country - and only discovered she was pregnant after moving to Ireland.
Her child was delivered by caesarean section.
