Convicted drug smuggler Michaella McCollum has returned to Ireland for the first time since she was released from jail in Peru in April.

The 23 year old was met at the airport by her mother.

McCollum was convicted of trying to smuggle cocaine with a street value of almost two million euro from Peru to Spain three years ago.

She had been released from a Peruvian jail in April after a successful application for parole and has now been allowed to return to Ireland.
