Cannabis could soon be legally available in Ireland for medical purposes.

TDs are debating bill today allowing doctors prescribe the drug to those with serious illnesses.

The Health Minister has indicated he won't oppose the bill, but has suggested changes could be made before it's published.

The Independent Alliance has been given a free vote on the issue.
