Council officials are to meet with residents of Carrickmines this morning who've objected to survivors of a fatal fire moving into their neighbourhood.

The group used their cars yesterday to block 15 members of the traveller community from accessing temporary accommodation on Rockville Drive in South Dublin.

The families lost their homes when a blaze tore through their halting site on nearby Glenamuck Road on Saturday - leaving 10 of their relatives dead.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council donated land for temporary accommodation while a permanent site is built - but locals say the solution isn't good enough.
