Men apparently take nearly twice as many selfies - to post on social media.
A poll of 18 to 30 year-olds found on average, men upload three a week - compared to women's 1.6.
More than a third of men said they shared more than five a week - with a quarter doing it to make an ex or partner jealous.
One in ten said posting selfies made them look more desirable.
The study also revealed men take more photographs of their body than women - three quarters of male selfies are of their physique.
Women are more likely to share face selfies.
