The planet Mercury is moving across the sun today, and may be visible from Ireland, weather permitting.
Trinity College Dublin has set up telescopes until 6 o'clock, and if the clouds don't cooperate, there are televisions streaming footage from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory.

CAUTION: Do not look directly at the Sun during the transit or at any other time. Doing so can cause permanent damage to your eyes.
