The Minister for Finance has insisted that someone on a salary of €70,000 should not be seen as wealthy.
Michael Noonan says someone on that wage would pay over a third of their salary in tax.
He says people on that salary are the 'squeezed middle' which he'll aim to help in future Budgets:
