Retired surgeon Michael Shine has been jailed for 4 years for abusing young boys over 20 years.
The 86 year old with an address in Ballsbridge in Dublin was convicted by a jury of indecently assaulting seven young boys during medical examinations.
The abuse happened at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and two private clinics in the town between 1971 and 1992.

One of his victims, 56 year old Patrick Cusack, said he hadn’t had a proper night’s sleep in 45 year until the guilty verdicts were announced.
Speaking outside court this afternoon, he said it was a good day for all victims of abuse.
Mr Cusack had this to say about the sentence:
The sentence didn't really make too much difference because the conviction was the most important thing.
Judge Nolan delivered his sentence and I feel it's most, most appropriate.
