Midwives at Mayo University Hospital are to begin industrial action amid concerns over staff shortages.

INMO members in the Maternity Unit, the Labour Ward and Maternity Outpatient Department will stage a lunchtime protest at the Castlebar facility next Monday.

The union says that from Wednesday 7th - midwives will begin a work to rule which will include a withdraw from clerical and support duties - and that if no progress is made members will proceed to a full withdrawal of labour.
