The Minister for Justice has expressed concern for a young woman who was denied an abortion under the new Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act.
It's reported that 2 psychiatrists on a medical panel deemed the woman to be suicidal, however an obstetrician concluded that the baby should be born by c-section, as the pregnancy was between 23 and 25 weeks.
Its understood the woman - who's not Irish - was in fear for her life from a relative and could not leave the country due to her legal status.
The case has raised numerous questions about the Government's abortion legislation.
Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald, says they're continuing to monitor the protection of life during pregnancy laws.
