The Minister for Sport says it's embarrassing that Ireland is embroiled in two separate scandals at the Olympics.

Portlaoise based boxer Michael O'Reilly has been disqualified after he failed a drug test, while an Irish man is in custody in Rio on suspicion of selling tickets that were allocated for Ireland, on the black market.

23 year old Michael O'Reilly has confirmed that he won't be competing for Team Ireland.

The Olympic Council of Ireland have confirmed that he is no longer contesting the provisional suspension after he failed the test.

O'Reilly has already left the Olympic Village and arrangements are being made for him to return to Ireland.

Meanwhile, an Irish man is in custody in Brazil over his alleged involvement in the Olympic ticket scandal.

36 year old Kevin Mallon is likely to find out in the next 48 hours if he'll face jail time in Rio.

He was detained along with a colleague on Friday, after over a thousand tickets allocated for Ireland were discovered at an apartment in Rio.
