Three of our Universities have slipped further down the International rankings.
UCD has fallen back 15 places in the last year and is now ranked 154th.
Trinity remains the country's top University according to the international barometer QS - its at 78 down from 71 last year.
UCC fell back three places to 223.
However NUI Galway, DCU, UL and Maynooth University have all improved on last years performance.
DCU President Brian MacCraith says Irish institutions are still of a very high standard internationally.
