The finance minister's promising there will be no more surprises in Budgets - as everyone will have the same information as him.

Michael Noonan's promising to share documents with TDs so they can see all the potential tax changes on offer, before Budget Day.

The minister has today been attending a meeting of the new Budgetary Oversight Committee, which is to taken on a more active role in forming budgetary policy.

The process will make it easier for opposition parties or cross-party groupings to make alternative suggestions ahead of the Budget itself being announced.
