The Alien from the film of the same name has topped a list of the most infamous movie monsters.

The creature, which burst out of John Hurt's chest in the 1979 thriller, has been named the most frightening creation from film history.

The skeleton army from Jason And The Argonauts takes second place, while The Thing from the sci-fi horror film is third.
