The Government will publish the terms of reference for the inquiry into Mother and Baby Homes this morning.

Children's Minister James Reilly will announce details about the Commission of Investigation after briefing survivors groups this morning.

The inquiry - led by Ms Justice Yvonne Murphy - was established following the revelations of up to 800 deaths at one mother and baby home in Tuam, Co Galway - and received over 160 submissions from the public and interest groups during consultation.

It's understood the investigation will focus on Catholic and Protestant-run mother and baby homes from the foundation of the state until the 1990s - while The Irish Times says the inquiry will have three years to complete its work.

The Terms will be debated in the Oireachtas before the Commission is formally established.
