A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash in County Galway.

The 52-year-old man died after he collided with a car on the N17 at Polkeen, Castlegar, shortly before 10pm last night.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is closed this morning for a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
