Mountjoy prison is currently in lockdown with a search of the cells underway.

It's after contraband - understood to be the barrel of a gun and a number of bullets - was found in a service area around lunchtime.

The items were found in an area of the prison where inmates would not usually be according to the Prisons Service.

Prisoners have been locked in their cells while a general search of the facility is carried out.
