A powerful earthquake has struck north-eastern India - killing at least four people and injuring nearly 100.

The death toll is expected to rise.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake - measuring 6-point-8 - hit 18 miles west of Imphal, the capital of the state of Manipur bordering Myanmar.

Rescue efforts are being hampered by severed power supplies and telecommunication links.
