A number of people have died in a fire at a halting site in Carrickmines in south County Dublin.

Dublin Fire Brigade says two adults and two children have been taken to hospital and one person was rescued, but there are a number of fatalities.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at the site on Glenamuck Road at around 4.30 a.m.

The road has been closed in both directions.
