An investigation into the death of 64 year old Thomas 'Toddy' Dooley in Co. Offaly yesterday afternoon has been upgraded to murder.
The body of Mr Dooley was discovered when Gardai were called to his house at Sr. Senan Court in Edenderry.
The father of three had suffered serious injuries to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The State Pathologist Dr. Cassidy attended the scene earlier today and carried out a post mortem examination at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have spoken to or seen Mr. Dooley between 11am on Thursday and 2:45pm on Sunday afternoon to contcat them on 057-9327607.
A family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Tullamore Garda Station.
