NAMA requests investigation into Wallace claims

NAMA has written to the Garda Commissioner asking for an investigation into new claims about the agency made in the Dáil by Mick Wallace.

The Independent TD claimed under Dáil privilege that an un-named NAMA officer sought two cash payments of 15,000 "in a bag" from a debtor in order to exit from the agency.

In a letter to Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan this afternoon, NAMA CEO Brendan McDonagh says Deputy Wallace may be in breach of the law by not reporting any evidence of alleged wrongdoing to gardaí

He also asks the Commissioner to investigate the matter urgently as it casts a shadow over all NAMA officers.

Deputy Wallace also claimed in the Dáil that NAMA had not enforced personal guarantees of some high profile people whose loans had been taken into the agency:
