Actor Neil Patrick Harris will host next year's Oscars ceremony.

The star - best known for his role as Barney Stinson in sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' - previously won three Emmys for presenting the Tony theatre awards on four occasions.

The 2015 Academy Awards will take place on February the 22nd in Los Angeles.

Harris is currently starring in the hit film 'Gone Girl'.
