A new scheme could allow parents to go back to low paid work and keep some child welfare payments.
The Tanaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, says she's 'very confident' about the proposal to reward working parents in the Budget.
It could allow parents in low paid work to keep a welfare payment worth up to 30 euro per child a week.
It comes as the Ministers for Finance and Public Expenditure hold their first meetings with cabinet colleagues about budget plans.
