A dedicated team is being put together to visit hospital emergency departments with the worst levels of overcrowding.
The squad from the HSE's Special Delivery Unit will put a plan in place that's tailored to the site and aimed at cutting the number of people awaiting treatment on trolleys.
The problem's been in the headlines again in recent days after it emerged that two women over the age of 100 had spent more then 24 hours on trolleys in separate hospitals.
