Over 4,000 jobs at the Bombardier factory in Belfast are under further threat.
It follows the announcement by the US authorities that even bigger import penalties on the aircraft maker's Northern Ireland operation.
A second levy has now been placed on its products - adding up to a 300% duty on its aircraft.
The penalties were imposed after officials decided Bombardier got illegal help from the UK and Canadian governments.
Bombardier has hit out at the decision, calling it an 'egregious overreach' on the part of the US authorities.
