The Tánaiste and Labour leader now says there are "no guarantees" on the date for the general election.
It's been another day of frenzied speculation about whether Taoiseach Enda Kenny will call an early election for next month.
He's remaining tight lipped refusing to say if the Banking Inquiry will get to report - it would collapse if the Dáil is dissolved before it is due to report next January.
This morning Tánaiste Joan Burton insisted she had a "long conversation" with Mr Kenny about not having an early election - but this evening she admitted to reporters there was no guarantee that the election would be next Spring:
