The IDA says theres no reason to believe US companies will pull out of Ireland after Donald Trump's latest comments.

The US President has called on multinationals to stop manufacturing here and move back to the US.

Three recent resignations from the US manufacturing Advisory Board by the Chief Executives of Intel, Merck and Under Armour have been linked to Mr Trumps response to violence in Charlottesville.

However he says they are down to the Company bosses being embarrassed that they make products abroad.

Intel and Merck are just two of 700 US companies which are based here.

Combined they employ over 100-thousand people and account for 70 per cent of our foreign direct investment.

The IDA says the companies that choose to locate here do so for easy access to the European and global market - they've been doing so for 60 years and there's no reason to believe they'll stop now.

It added that US businesses continue to be attracted to Ireland but that it's working on attracting more investment from Asia and other new markets.
