Michael Noonan says he's on mild painkillers to relieve the pain in his shoulder, but that otherwise he's fully fit and ready to contest the next general election.
Last night the 71 year old Minister revealed he's been treated for cancer and he thanked staff at two Dublin hospitals -St Lukes in Rathgar and Cappagh in Finglas -for the care he received.
He's he'll stay on as Minister for Finance as long as the Taoiseach wants him there.
