The NSPCC has revealed it received five calls a day during the summer holidays last year about children being left home alone.

The charity says three quarters were deemed serious enough to be passed to police or social services.

It puts the spike down to increasing childcare pressures - but warns children are at greater risk of accident or injury if they're left alone.
