Nurses working in Emergency Departments around the country are expected to vote in favour of strike action in the coming weeks.

The results of a ballot of members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is due later this morning.

The group says its members are angry at the increased levels of overcrowding in Emergency Departments.

The INMO will reveal the nature of the of any strike action later this morning.
