President Obama has said the murders of nine black people in a church in South Carolina highlight a need for a shift in public attitude towards gun violence.

The 21 year-old suspect - Dylan Roof - continues to be questioned by police.

It's feared the atrocity will re-ignite racial tensions in the area.
