The U.S. President Barack Obama has turned into a stand-up comedian for the night.

Last night he delivered his final speech at the annual White House correspondents' dinner - where the Commander in Chief takes a playful dig at politicians and the media.

The US President couldn't resist taking several pops at Donald Trump.

He noted that the Republican party establishment was horrified that the billionaire could be their nominee. "Not fair", said President Obama:

President Obama joked that he has lost some respect now he only has a few months left in office.

And he referenced his recent visit to the UK:
Some of the best gags of the night included:

"In my final year, my approval ratings keep going up. The last time I was this high, I was trying to decide on my major."

"Helen Mirren is here tonight. I don’t even have a joke here. I just think Helen Mirren is awesome."

"I’ve said how much I admire Hillary’s toughness, her policy chops. You got to admit it though, Hillary trying to appeal to young voters is a little like your relative who just signed up for Facebook. 'Dear America, did you get my poke? It didn't appear on your wall. Not sure I’m using this right. Love Aunt Hillary'."

And he ended the night by dramatically dropping the mic with the words: "Obama out".
