Official figures mask real number of poor older people

Age Action says that older people's ability to cope means more of them are at risk of poverty than the official figures show.

Figures from the CSO show that 12 percent of older people are at risk of poverty, but Age Action says they're consistently hearing from members who have to choose between food, fuel and medicine due to cutbacks.

Pat Kelly is from Blackrock in Cork, and worked as a carer for 25 years after back surgery left him unable to work.
