TDs have asked the Garda Ombudsman to hand over a full version of an independent report into suspected bugging of its offices.

The Committee on Public Service Oversight says it has grave concerns about some of the issues raised during its hearing

The chairman of the Garda Ombudsman commission told the committee that although there was no definitive evidence, he DID suspect that the Commission's offices in Dublin were under "surveillance of some sort".

And while there's no evidence of any Garda involvement in that suspected surveillance, Simon O'Brien said that he couldn't exclude Gardaí from the list of people whom he suspects to have some motive for surveillance.

In a statement after last night's four-hour meeting the committee said it had grave concerns about some of the issues raised - and would ask for a full and unredacted copy of the report compiled by Verrimus, the British firm which discovered some of the security concerns.

It's also asking the Justice minister Alan Shatter to come before the committee to discuss his Department's response to the bugging claims.
