Team Ireland has been dealt a major blow after one of Irelands boxers failed a a drugs test on the eve of the olympic openening ceremony in Rio.

23 year old Michael O'Reilly from Portloaise was informed of the alleged offence yesterday.

He is due to compete on August 12th - a win would guarnatee him a place in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile the opening ceremony for the Olympics will take place later.

The theme will be diversity and having respect for people and the planet.

Marco Balich is the executive producer for the ceremony at the Maracana.

He says political issues will play no part in his event.
