New research finds we spend the equivalent of one day a week on our smartphone, checking it up to 221 times a day.
A study has revealed we spend three and a quarter hours a day looking at social networks, email or texts - with 7 out of 10 people using their phones to try to look busy when alone.
Two thirds of us - mostly women - have started using our phones without knowing why, and 3 in 5 will text someone in the same building, instead of going to talk to them.
It also finds that four out of five people feel lost without their phone.
