At least one person has been killed and another injured after a car crashed into bus shelters in southern France.

The incident happened in the city of Marseilles.

Police confirmed that the suspected driver has been arrested.

It was not immediately clear whether it was an accident or deliberate.

People were urged to avoid the Old Port area of the city in the aftermath of the incident.
