One person has been killed and another is in a serious condition in Hospital after a crash in Co Longford last night.

An 18 year old man died after the car he was traveling in crashed into a tractor at Bornacoola, on the N4 in Co. Longford at around 10 to 12 last night.

The driver and one other occupant of the car were treated for minor injuries. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The stretch of road is closed to allow an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
