Opel Ireland is to recall more than 8,000 Zafira cars in Ireland after a reports of a number of the vehicles catching fire.

The company says it has detected problems with some models heating and ventilation systems 

The affetced models are 2005-2014, right-hand drive, non Climate Control models.

Opel is writing to all affected owners asking them to visit their nearest dealership.

In a statement they say any parts that need to be replaced will be changed at no cost to the customer.
