Enda Kenny says yesterday's BUdget has outlined a clear path for Ireland to get out of its financial crisis for good.

But as the Dáil debates the budget, opposition TDs say the government is simply trying to take credit for undoing some of its own cuts.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin told the Dáil that the welfare increases announced yesterday were simply a reversal of some of the cuts the government had made in previous years, which were contrary to its election promises.

Meanwhile the government's own budget watchdog says it's concerned about how spending for this year is now set to increase dramatically.

The Fiscal Advisory Council says it did not foresee the €1.7 billion of extra spending for 2015 which were also included in yesterday's Budget measures.
