The Irish Kidney Association is calling for closer ties with Northern Ireland to boost the number of organs that are available.
Ireland had a record year in 2014 for kidney transplants for children, and more living transplants were carried out than ever before.
However, the number of deceased donors dropped by more than a third last year.
