The Garda Commissioner is insisting she is staying in her job to continue the reform of the force.

Nóirín O'Sullivan today spoke in public for the first time since scandals erupted over the exaggeration of the number of Garda breath tests by almost one million, and the case of thousands of people wrongly convicted in court for speeding.

Gardaí will now make contact with those people to have the convictions quashed.

But opposition parties are still deciding on how they will respond to a motion being put forward in the Dáil by Sinn Féin calling on the government to sack commissioner O'Sullivan.
