Over 22,000 Irish people have settled in Australia since 2009.
According to the Sunday Independent recent figures from the Settlement Report show Irish emigrants have permanently settled in Australia since the beginning of the recession with Ireland now featuring at 11 in the list of top 25 countries that have officially migrated to Australia.
The figures show that 22,170 people born in Ireland have permanently settled in Australia from the 1st of October 2009 to the 30th of September 2014.
Of these, almost 17,500 are categorised as "skilled" people.
