The ESB says it expects to have power restored this afternoon to all the 5,000 homes affected by last night's thunder and lightning storm.
The conditions also caused flooding in parts of Dublin city centre and Co Cork, which has now mostly receded.
Elsewhere the heavy rain also damaged parts of the roof on the Mater Hospital and Clerys Department store in Dublin.
