A war of words has broken out between cabinet ministers and some members of the Public Accounts Committee over its investigation into the management of the penalty points system.

Alan Shatter says some comments by some members of the PAC have rendered it incapable of holding a fair inquiry.

The committee is meeting this afternoon - and may still decide to proceed with its own inquiry.
