New research suggests parents who watch three hours of television a day could be affecting their children's TV viewing habits for the next three decades.
University College London says middle-aged "couch potatoes" are likely to have begun developing the habit in childhood.
They claim parents who take their children outside for exercise increase their offspring's chances of becoming fit, healthy adults.
