A post mortem is due to be carried out today on a pensioner who lost his life in a house fire in Co Galway yesterday.

The blaze broke out at shortly after 1pm at the house at Shannakeela, Recess.

The man's body was removed from the house and taken to UCHG where a post mortem is due to be carried out later today.

Gardai say it's believed the fire started accidentally.
