Planning permission to build new homes has risen by more than 52 per cent in a year.
New figures from the CSO show that permission was granted for 2 thousand 144 new homes during the third quarter of this year, up from 1 thousand 400 during the same time in 2013.
The biggest rise was for apartments, with planning permission given for 361 new units - up 130 per cent on last year.
