PETA says the Netflix series sweeps animal cruelty under the rug.

It has accused the show's makers of omitting specific details about the main character's conviction for abuse.

Steven Avery served nine months in jail after dousing the family cat with lighter fluid before throwing him onto a fire.

PETA claims 'Making a Murderer' glossed over the incident.

It's also warning that the FBI recognise cruelty to animals as a precursor to further violence.
